F4’s reunion rakes in S$1.18m in earnings

The Taiwanese boyband is preparing a special reunion stage for Jiangsu TV’s Spring Festival Gala

12 years since they shot to stardom with the TV series Meteor Garden, Taiwanese boyband F4 is set to perform at Jiangsu TV’s Spring Festival Gala to ring in the Chinese New Year this February. Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Vanness Wu and Ken Zhu will rake in RMB $6 million (S$1.18 million) in earnings from their onstage reunion, the first in five years.

More than a decade since they became an iconic group, F4’s popularity is unrivalled as news of their reunion spread across the online community within hours after it was announced. Though the program rundown is still in the midst of discussion, the show’s director assured fans that every detail of the performance will be well prepared for.

He added that the production team specially flew to Taiwan twice, to discuss the program with the four of them separately. “For them to perform on the same stage, especially during the festive season, is a huge task.”

Vic’s manager also shared that the boyband plans to appear in a “very special manner” which will bring back fond memories from 12 years ago.

F4 to make comeback for CNY

1 Jan – It was recently revealed that after four years, Taiwanese group F4 will be reuniting once again for a Lunar New Year special.
According to Jayne Stars, the group will be appearing as one of the performers for the Chinese New Year show that will be broadcast via Jiangsu Satellite TV (JSTV) after a pre-recording in Beijing in January 2013.

Fans will get to hear the group sing their hit song, "Meteor Rain".

F4 first rose to fame through the Taiwanese TV series, "Meteor Garden", which is an adaptation of the Japanese comic "Hana Yori Dango". The drama featured the four members, Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Ken Zhu, and Vic Chou as four handsome wealthy heirs who form the members of a famous gang known as F4.

The drama was a hit all over Asia, to the extent that the members were recruited to help promote tourism for Taiwan and reportedly brought in an estimated NTD 4.2 billion in revenue for the country.

However, after its record breaking concerts in Japan in 2008, F4 technically disbanded, with each member focusing on individual projects instead.

Vanness Wu admits he was a womaniser

By Syahida Kamarudin | From Cinema Online Exclusively for Yahoo! Newsroom – 13 hours ago

8 Nov – Vanness Wu's much popularised abstinence from sex for the past five years is apparently to redeem himself from his bad behaviour in the past, according to a report on Asianpopnews website.

In an interview on a Taiwanese variety programme, "University", the performer confessed to audiences regarding his past rebellious behaviour. The singer stated, "I used to be very flirtatious in the past."
"2007 was my most depressing year. Although F4 was at the peak of popularity, I was unable to do the kind of music I loved in order to support my family."

Vanness confessed that he lost his life direction and was in frequent quarrels with his parents as a result.
"I quarrelled a lot with my parents at that time. I even went around drinking and courting girls. I treated girls with no respect at all," the singer confessed.

However, Vanness explained that he changed his lifestyle and attitude after he was baptised as a Christian few years back. The singer stated, "I then realised that women are the best creations and my past attitude towards women were so wrong!"
The singer is currently in a relationship with a Singaporean heiress, Arissa Cheo.
