"Meteor Garden" was an adaptation of the Japanese manga "Hana Yori Dango" and became a cultural phenomenon across Asia, including South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.

The drama also introduced the world to F4, a boy band consisting of Jerry Yan, Vic Zhou, Ken Chu, and Vanness Wu. These four actors played the roles of Dao Ming Si, Hua Ze Lei, Xi Men, and Mei Zuo, respectively. Their portrayal of the elite and charismatic group of friends won the hearts of millions, and they quickly became household names.
