Three cheers for disposable underwear

Van Ness Wu on road trips, lost luggage and wedgies

SINGER, actor and pretty boy Van Ness Wu, who was in town last weekend to perform at the Ion Fashion Concert, has trotted the globe so much, he's clocked more miles than the Pony Express.

The 32-year-old citizen of Los Angeles, Taipei and everywhere in between had been in Paris prior to his Singapore stop, working on his television drama, Material Queen, and was still missing the Parisian je ne sais quoi.

However, the former member of Taiwanese boyband F4 was planning to take comfort in his favourite Indian curries, which he enjoys every time he visits Singapore. MAY SEAH

Where's your favourite travel destination?

Van Ness Wu: It doesn't really matter where - it's the people that I'm with. I love taking road trips, driving along the coast. I love beaches, sandy spots and all that. Bali's great. East Java, too - I love going to Surabaya and hanging out with people there.

When was the last time you went on a road trip?

July. We drove down to Las Vegas from LA, and it was a really good trip overall. I don't drink, so it wasn't like a party - crazy, Hangover type of deal. For me, it was just really being able to get out there and relax by the pool, get a tan, get some sun, enjoy the food, the shows, and spending time with friends and family. We did a little bit of gambling, too.

I guess one of my best travel experiences is being able to travel by myself, to a place I've never been before. That's always fun.

Where would you go?

How long do I have? An indefinite period of time? I'd definitely go to Europe, then. I'd walk the whole continent before ending up in a tropical spot like the Caribbean.

What's your worst travel experience?

Losing my luggage. That's always kind of scary. It's happened once. It was in Japan. I showed up, I was all excited, then I found out my luggage got delayed, or was gone. It came back the next day, but it was a bit freaky.

What has been your biggest packing mistake?

Winter clothes in the summer time, or summer clothes in the winter time. This time in Paris, I didn't expect it to be so cold. It was freezing. It got down to zero degrees. I had no gloves the whole trip and no real big windbreaker type jacket.

I loved Paris. It's very beautiful. I love French people. Everybody I met, they were really nice. Even the ones that weren't nice were still interesting. I love the language. I miss hearing the language.

What's your best travel tip?

Disposable underwear. I'm serious. I went to Paris for two weeks and I bought 15 pairs of disposable underwear. Wear 'em, throw 'em away. Works great. You don't have to go home and wash your clothes and all that stuff.

Don't they give you wedgies?

No. Not me. My ... Uh ... No. (Laughs)

Van Ness Wu in Singapore

This event celebrates the one-year anniversary of ION Orchard—yes! It’s been a year already!—and it’ll be held at ION2, Level 1, ION Orchard at 7pm. It’s free, so all you Van Ness fans have no reason not to go down and catch his performance.

“I’ll be performing about six songs. It’ll be from my new Japanese single album and some from my old albums and some mixed together,” Van Ness told Showbiz Sista as we lounged around Royal Plaza On Scotts’s Presidential Suite.

The former F4 band member—who could forget those rebonded locks?—said he loves Singapore’s curry and Singapore’s weather, but as for Singapore girls, well, that’s a toss-up. Now that he’s broken up with Singaporean socialite Arissa Cheo, is he currently single and available?

Van Ness laughed. “Umm… I’m single. Am I available? I don’t know. ‘Cos I’m not looking. I’m just going through the emotions of trying to figure out what it is that I want for myself. So I don’t know if I am available. I am single though!”

Van Ness thanks God for no bed scene in "Material Queen"

As reported previously, Van Ness Wu and Lynn Xiong were filming in Paris for their upcoming drama, “Material Queen”. Van Ness has been trying his best to avoid intimate scenes due to his Christianity, but he and Lynn had a bed scene in the drama. Fortunately, due to the cold weather in Paris, the bed scene was cancelled and changed to a kissing scene instead. Feeling relieved, Van Ness expressed, “Thank God!”

Van Ness broke up with his now ex-girlfriend Arissa just before he left Taiwan for Paris. He revealed to the media that he has already recovered from it, “Regardless of love relationships or work, God is the one giving me strength and power. Whether it’s good or bad, I have to face them all.” There were rumors that the couple broke up because Arissa had a new love interest and/or because of a dissatisfying sex life. Van Ness continued to thank God and did not disclose any further details of the break up to the media.

It’s Van Ness first time working with Lynn Xiong and he complimented her, saying that she’s very cute, “She’s completely different from her appearance. She’s like a kid, very easy to get along with.” Since Lynn is 179cm tall, whenever the two have to be filmed standing together, Lynn would take off her high heels right away. Van Ness laughed, “The director wanted me to stand on a box, but I refused.”

Golden Bell is airing on Friday, but Van Ness won’t be attending as he will be performing in Singapore. He didn’t forget to congratulate his good friend and director Chen Hui-Ling and Jian Man-Shu for their Best Director and Best Actress nominations for “Year of the Rain” respectively, “Hurry and go get your awards! You guys have to win!”

United Daily News - Movie selling hot 10 million box office actor> Zai Zai is thrilled

10-10-5

http://udn.com/NEWS

Zai Zai Zhou Yumin’s movie "Love you ten thousand years" box office in Taiwan exceeded NTD10million, and he finally becomes a "10 million box office boy actor". Zaizai who is now working in Mainland China thanked audience, and said: "I am really very happy."

Taiwan film "Love you ten thousand years" box office from August 6 to September 30 surpassed NTD 10 million in total Taiwan. Amidst many strong films, the movie continued to show hotly in cinemas for 55 days and created 10 million box office, mainly relying on good word-of-mouth by audience who have seen it, and proved the quality of film from producer Peggy Chiao, Zai Zai's touching performance and other overall entity success. Japanese Director Kitamura who has been in Taiwan for many years excitedly said: "I feel like a 98-year-old who still has a job with an annual salary of one million dollars ah."

Zaizai who is now filming “Home” drama in Shanghai, says thank you to audience’s support through his manager. In the film, Zai Zai played a rock band lead singer, wore tacky suits and enthusiastically performed a “making love” dance, all done with no effort at all, and even acted with a slight feminine taste. Zai Zai boldly makes new attempts, personally created new eye expressions and actions to increase the flavor of performance. Compared to his image in the idol dramas he acted in, it’s as if they are 2 different people, proving that Zaizai has chosen the right road.

“Meteor Garden" and "Black and White" made Zai Zai popular throughout the television circles, and if he “madly” accepts idol drama roles and acts in commercials, the money to be earned is endless. But Zai Zai takes into account making movie, he values the script and the director plus crew, and whether the roles are interesting and allows him "to experience a life he has never experienced before" in the film. Although “Love you ten thousand years" did not get him nominated for Golden Horse Award, Zai Zai did not mind because he has never acted so "youthful" before. Zai Zai enjoyed performing the role very much, and now he is even getting audience’s affirmation, making him feel that it is very worthwhile.

First still of Lynn Xiong and Van Ness Wu in Material Queen

more here: http://www.cpopaccess.com/2010/10/first-still-of-lynn-xiong-and-van-ness.html

Producer Chen Yu-Shan’s upcoming drama, “Material Queen”, was filming on location in Paris regardless of the recent bomb threats.

Early in the morning in the cool temperature of 10 degrees Celsius, Lynn Xiong wore a custom designed dress by Sex In The City stylist Patricia Field; She showed off her shoulders and long legs while walking on the Pont des Arts. Costar Van Ness Wu kept Lynn entertained by making silly poses for other tourists to snap pictures. The actress was full of smiles and laughter despite shivering under the cold weather.

The drama crew had prepared some hot packs for Lynn to put inside her dress, but she said, “I’m afraid it will make me look chubbier. It’s okay to shiver a bit, I have to look pretty even if it’s cold.”

Van Ness did not forget to update his micro blog. He wrote, “So tired! It’s already difficult to read the script in Chinese, and now there are French dialogues…so stressed. On top of the time difference, I haven’t been able to sleep for 48 hours. (I) guess I can only joke around to decrease my stress.”

Vanness Wu Moves on to Golden Bell Director Chen Hui Ling

Source: UDN
Translations by: xbunnylicious @ AsianFanatics

When Vanness Wu and Singaporean girlfriend Arissa broke up, rumors have it that the reason they broke up was because of Vanness's chastity pledge against premarital sex.

Vanness Wu and Chen Hui Ling will be collaborating in new drama "Material Queen" (拜金女王). When Chen Hui Ling went to Paris for filming, she responded for the first time about her relationship with Vanness, "If people ask if I love him (Vaness), then yes, I love him. He is very cute, but it's like family love."

Chen Hui Ling said that she knew she would be dragged into this after news surfaced about Vanness and his girlfriend breaking up. She even used this to joke with Vanness, but she also said, "People in the entertainment circle think our scandal is a joke. My boyfriend also thinks it's a joke. All three of us even went to see Toy Story 3 this summer."

She described her relationship with Vanness not like a young brother, but more like a son. "He is very naive and likes to cry even more than I do." The scandal of them spread for almost 9 months after rumors said the two of them were very close on the set of "Autumn's Concerto." However, Chen Hui Ling believes that their friends will know their true relationship.

During the press conference of "Material Queen", the media caught the two of them wearing similar styles of Casio watches. Chen Hui Ling felt accused as she said, "It was a birthday present Vanness gave me back in March. He was recording his album in Japan and he chose the purple color we both like. He really likes it himself too and was very reluctant to give it to me. When he was in America for a function, his friend gave him the same watch. He was very excited and wore it that day to show it to me. I was dumbfounded when I saw it and asked why he had to choose that day to wear it. Vanness is just like that. He doesn't think too much about whether people will misunderstand or not. It was really just a coincidence.http://www.asianfanatics.net[/url]
